Betty Gets Building with Jimmy Doherty for discovery+

Discovery UK has commissioned Betty to make brand new aspirational engineering show Builds on Wheels (wt) for discovery+.

Presented by farmer and life-long tinkerer, Jimmy Doherty, the 8x60 series, which is co-produced with Krempelwood, will hunt out those who are turning everyday run-arounds in to extraordinary motoring marvels. Converting anything from removal vans, fire engines and military trucks into awesome homes from home, ready to hit the road and explore the world in comfort.

Immersing with great characters embarking on very personal vehicle transformations, Jimmy will be joined be his trusty mate and engineer Jimmy de Ville, who will be on hand to offer technical support. Whether they are struggling with a design challenge, need a bit of extra engineering know-how or a specialist piece of kit, Jimmy and Jimmy will step in to help speed up the process and bring their dreams to life.

When they are not doing their bit for amateur builders, Jimmy and Jimmy will be hitting the road, to get inspiration from some of the best completed builds around, test-driving extraordinary conversions. To find out the true joys of getting away from it all, in vehicles that have been expertly designed and built. Jimmy Doherty will also get the chance to fulfil a lifelong ambition of building his own dream vehicle.

Jimmy Doherty said, “It’s been a joy to meet so many passionate people, taking control of their destiny and creating their dream getaways. And they’ve given me some great ideas for my own incredible vehicle conversion. I’m looking forward to loading up the family and hitting the road - you’ll definitely see me coming!”

Jimmy de Ville added, “Helping people through the technical challenges involved in creating their dream vehicles which will allow them to realise their dreams, enabling them to experience the freedoms of the open road and the wonders of the wilds is a true pleasure. Working with Jimmy creating a mad cap adventure mobile is nothing short of joyous.”

Commissioned by Simon Downing and Victoria Noble for discovery+ UK, the series will be executive produced by David Harrison for Betty, Jon Stephens for Discovery, and Blair Krempel and Mark Wood for Krempelwood.
